While the global consulting market offers exciting opportunities, converting these opportunities into business may be more difficult than you think. Catherine Mercer Bing, who has lived and worked in the Middle East, offers a unique perspective on consulting for global clients. “Part of the difficulty in marketing to global clients,” Bing states, “is that the professional who negotiates the terms of the engagement is often the home office staff who may act as gatekeepers and know little about how to serve global clients.” She adds, “One size does NOT fit all when working with global clients.”
“Once you have the client, their expectations of the methods to build trust and your role as a consultant will vary across cultures,” she concludes. Come hear Catherine talk about how to identify behaviors that global clients exhibit for clues to their cultural preferences. Catherine will introduce these preferences and discuss to how to meet global clients’ needs. She also invites attendees to come prepared to discuss how to avoid the pitfalls when consulting globally.
