The Fifth Annual “Taste of Essex” is just around the corner and will take place Tuesday, March 14, 2006 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Mayfair Farms in West Orange. Guests will be treated to an evening of delectable tastings of food, wine, and cocktails from more than two dozen area restaurants, caterers and spirt vendors. The event will once again feature a juried contest between restauranteurs and vendors for "Best Appetizer,""Best Beverage", "Best Dessert", "Best Entree" and "Best Overall". Among this year's judges will be noted cookbook author Maria Grazia Asselle, author of Cucina Piemontese - Cooking from Italy's Piedmont, featured recently in the Star Ledger. Co-author and photographer Brian Yarvin will be available as well with copies of their cookbooks.
A fabulous Gift Auction will return with many wonderful electronics, gift baskets, event tickets, jewelry, spa packages and so much more. A portion of the proceeds from a 50/50 drawing as well as the Gift Auction will benefit the Chamber's non-profit Foundation and it's Scholarship Program which proudly grants 10 scholarships per year to local area high school and college students.
